About the Book
This is the tale of a small hedgehog named Milton, who is struggling to survive and find happiness. His adventures take him to April’s Pond where he meets a friendly ladybird, squirrel, and house martin. However, his fate is far from certain, hidden danger lurks in the shadows, watching his every move, and not everything at the pond is quite as it seems.
The book was created to inspire young people and adults everywhere to conquer their fears and realize their potential. It subtly tackles difficult issues like animal cruelty, trust, friendship, obsession, jealousy, forgiveness, and love. Through the eyes of a small hedgehog it offers the reader ways to deal with complex emotions like fear and incorporates factual information about the wildlife that lives at April's Pond. Who will enjoy this book?
This is a book that can truly be enjoyed by everyone. It has been described by some school teachers as being similar to Charlotte's Web in that way, as having universal appeal. Parent's will enjoy reading this to their young children, illustrating the story with a puppet, and equally young adults of a modest reading ability will enjoy reading it alone. Just like many novels, the storyline is thought provoking and will no doubt stimulate many useful discussions, provide the opportunity for parents to provide guidance using their life experience.
